About this hike
Høgås - a short and open hike with a view of Seljord
Høgås (414 m) is a small, airy hill in Kivledalen, just a few kilometers from Åsheimgrendi. This is a short and easy hike, but with surprisingly great views of Seljord, Seljordsvatnet and the surrounding villages.
The hike starts near the roughly painted garage you see from the road, and goes through light forest terrain up to the narrow summit. The landscape is almost completely open and bare, which means you get a lot of views without having to walk far. This is a perfect evening hike, family hike or Sunday hike for those who want to hike in terrain that feels free and open.
At the top, you'll have a view of Seljord town center, with Skorvefjella in the background and blue skies as far as the eye can see.
Alternative routes:
- You can extend the hike by continuing to Venåsvegen or up towards Hartol. These routes are longer and provide a nice round trip through forest and low mountain terrain. With these detours, the hike quickly becomes 6-7 km long, and is suitable for those who want a longer experience.
Facts about the tour:
- Altitude: 414 m above sea level
- Length: Approx. 2-3 km round trip (short variant)
- Level: Easy - suitable for most people
- Surface: Paths and open forest terrain
- Time: Approx. 30-60 min round trip
Hiking tips:
- Walk in the evening sun - the light over Seljord is beautiful from here.
- Great short walk for those who want to walk without necessarily following a well-trodden path
- Can be combined with a round trip if you want to walk further
- Suitable for both young and old - and the dog is guaranteed to thrive here
