About this hike

Strondfjellet - magical views (and insights) towards Skorve

Strondfjellet is not one of the most visited mountain peaks in Seljord - but perhaps it should be. From here you get one of the most striking views towards Skorve, and a nature experience that provides peace, views and reflection. This is a hike for those who want to get to the heights, but at the same time hike in a quiet, gentle landscape, far from crowds and traffic.

Hiking route: From Flatsjå via the shuttle train at Århusmoen.

You start the hike from the area by the shooting range at Flatsjå, where there is parking at the barrier. For a few cars. From there you head up towards Århusmoen, a flat and open area with farmland and old traffic routes. This is where the trail really begins to open up.

After a quarter of an hour, you'll head for the mountains, and the trail winds its way up through light forest and heather moorland, with more and more air beneath your feet. When you reach Strondfjellet, the terrain flattens out and a panoramic view of Skorvefjella opens up in front of you, towering in all its power. This is a place for both views and insights - you feel small and big at the same time.

From here you can see straight into the Skorve plateau, with grooves, ridges and mountain ranges that many people only see from the valley. You also get a view of Seljordsvatnet, Århusnutane, and further west towards Åmotsdal and Telemark's inner mountain areas.

Facts about the trip:

- Length: Approx. 6-8 km round trip, depending on the route
- Highest point: Strondfjellet is around 880-900 m above sea level.
- Gradient: Moderate - steady and calm
- Level: Medium - suitable for most people with some hiking experience
- Surface: Path, tractor road and mountain terrain

Hiking tips:

- Walk in late summer sun for warm heather scent and soft light
- Perfect city for a coffee break and reflection trip
- Can be combined with a round trip via Århusnuten
- Bring binoculars - there's a lot to see here, both near and far
