Sveigen (1561 metres above sea level), Dyrskar on Haukelifjell.
When you're on assignment and working in Norway's great outdoors, you have to make the most of it. And when the weather is this insanely good, you have to go out. I'm guessing that Sveigen isn't a very interesting destination for most people, but from here you can see in and back into Telemark and you can see across to Western Norway. The trip up from the mouth of the Haukeli tunnel may not be for most people either. It goes straight up. 3.6 km to the top with more than 600 metres of ascent through the rock face. I'm thinking that this week it's going to turn round. So maybe I was the last man up here this year. And maybe I was the first? Because the cairn was small and the road was steep and somewhat impassable. The view across the valley to Store Nup, Verjesteinsnuten and Dyrskarsnuten was impeccable. The valley up to Middyrvatnet looks very nice from here.
