About this hike

Organized tour: Lifjell along. September 29, 2018 at 08:00

Route:
Grimås (Seljord) - Tjorbuvatn - Hollane - Øysteinnatten (1174 m) -Jønnbu (Bø)

Description:
A nice autumn hike over Lifjell is planned. We start from Grimås in Grunningsdalen in Seljord. Everyone will be picked up by bus from the parking lot at Eventyrøy Stadium (the sports arena). The first stretch from Grimås is in steep terrain up the old ski resort (or parallel to it). At the top (approx. 1 km), the terrain flattens out and we walk in an easy area on a path. We pass Tjorbu and head in the direction of Hollane. At Hollane, we take a break before continuing towards the highest point of the hike at Øysteinnatten (1174 m). We then head down the valley towards Jønnbu where the bus waits for us and drives back to the cars at the parking lot at Eventyrøy in Seljord.

Trail story

Fredarhaugen ved Slåkja på Lifjell

Fredarhaugen ved Slåkja på Lifjell

Fredarhaugen is in the vicinity of Slåkja on Lifjell.
Once there was a man in the vicinity who was hiking on the mountain. He saw a man coming down the valley, and he was carrying a rock box. "They stood and talked for a while. "No, I don't have time to stand here and talk," said the fiddler, "I'm going to Fredarhaugen to play inn, and now I see people coming." "I don't see anyone," said the other. "Take your hat and look through it, and you'll see people," said the foreman. Yes, he did, and that's when he saw people coming in droves, both walking and driving, to the pile.

Tussekyrkjegarden ein stad på Lifjell

Tussekyrkjegarden ein stad på Lifjell

In one place on Lifjell, in a few hills over by Gurosro, there is a whole host of small mounds, it's like a small churchyard. They say it's supposed to be a millennium churchyard.

It was there at the goblin churchyard that Halvor Stavsholta met the huldrebrudferda on Boxing Day. He skied over the hill and suddenly encountered a large, drowsy bride so beautiful and stately that she glistened and shone for a long time.

Tusseri på Lifjell

Tusseri på Lifjell

There was a Bohemian who traveled on Lifjell and wanted to lauve and can find some moss.
It was after crusade mass and people and cattle had long since flown down from the stables as they were supposed to. It was raining and cold and chilly and wives and autumnal in height and cheer. The man had brought a leaf knife and a face. Towards evening he arrived at a hut. It was so late that the man thought he should lie down there for the night. He didn't move again that day, though. He lay there in the shed at night. He fell asleep, but woke up to a ragged hand being dragged across his face. He shuddered and was horrified. He didn't look like that darling. He flew up in the darkness and groped, thrived and worked hard until he found the fire. So he scratched a stick, but saw nothing. He was probably alone. And it was scary. He lay down on the bed and smoked a pipe. Then he fell asleep and dozed off. He woke up to the sound of roaring in the mine. It was like it was cutting the fire or cutting the embers. Chairs were being moved and shuffled around, and the door was being pushed open and the floor was being shuffled around. It was starting to get scary. So he didn't know about the man until the furry hand came back and ran over his face. He stood up and pulled his limbs away from the window so that a light fell into the room. Then he saw that something black was falling across the floor and out through the door. But the door was locked and closed from the inside. The man lay back and saw nothing... Everything was calm and quiet.

Udyr - Bjønn på Lifjell - Historie

Udyr - Bjønn på Lifjell - Historie

An old woman tells us:
"My grandmother used to live in a house on Lifjell called Myrgvarv. One day the bean came upon her. They can shout at the scrub, he doesn't do anything about it, but the bean doesn't tolerate them shouting, and she had shouted. Then the child stood on its hind legs towards grandma. Then she was afraid. But then she prayed:

Dear dear grandfather, please don't hurt me.

Then he stood there fooling around for a while, then he turned around, but came towards her again. The cows had gone out, but one cow remained, she would not part company, did not move. Grandmother asked the boy nicely several times and finally he turned around and walked away from her. You can believe she was happy. Then she saw that there is something in what they say, that the child has the strength of ten men and the wit of 12.
